Default 1995 transmission problem

i just got a 1995 s10 4x4 automatic and it doesnt seem to shift into 3rd or 4th. 1 and 2 work great. after it gets to about 55 it revs way up, let off the gas it feels like it goes to 3rd but as soon as you hit the gas again its almost like its in nuetral. i just replaced the 2 shift solenoids and changed fluid and filter and it is still doing the same thing. can someone give me some other ideas? is there any way to diagnose without dropping the pan again? that was a pain in my rear. thanks for any help

Welcome to the forum! There’s so many posts on this issue already. 3-4 clutch pack is burnt. Transmission is going to need replaced or rebuilt. Very. Very common on these units. Good luck

Transman304 is the guy here with regard to transmission.

I had pretty much the same symptoms as you and the only thing to do is a transmission swap or have it rebuilt.

Bingo... Same thing happened to me this past summer, 1st and 2nd were fine then the tach would rev up just like yours... I got lucky and only paid $300 bucks for a used 1 from a local junk yard that came out of a 4x4 S10 pickup truck... Welcome to the Forum by the way

Just remember, it dosen't have to be an exact year match if you can't find a 95 at the junk yard... My used 1 came out of either a 99 or 00 S10 I forget and I have a 98...

It has to be a 1995. Early 1993,94 are by themselves 1996 kinda on its own but can go 1997-2001
good luck

My bad, thanks for setting me straight I thought since my 98 is compatible with so many different things I assumed they all were... Now I deserve a timeout and stand in the corner for a while

Not at all man, just sharing info from the years of transmissions coming across my bench. Here are some pictures I took today to help show what damage is done when the 3-4 clutches fail.

This is the infamous 3-4 clutch pack failure.

Forward clutch pack

Reverse input drum with damage from 2-4 band
