Default 1997 Blazer engine replacement

i have 1997 blazer 2dr 5spd i have recently blown up my engine

and i have recently found a guy selling a 2001 blazer xtreme powertrain (engine and tranny) for 1000 i told him 600 he told 900 then he said well talk

my only concern does a xtremes engine differ in any way because he said that this powertrain is in his 1991 blazer and he had to get it reprogrammed to run, which makes sence because i believe 1991 and 2001 differ and firing order
but my 1997 should be a start foward swap right

Should be as long as they both have the same engine code. I think it's a "W" in the VIN. Grab the PCM from him as well.
