1997 LT Engine cranks, but backfires instead of starts lol
The truck just didn't start one day, no warning signs at all....
At first I had no spark, change the rotor, crank and cam sensors as well as coil pack.
Truck finally started sparking again....only to backfire in place of not sparking lol\
Changed the cam and crank sensors again, back to originals no change...changed timing chain with no success either...and ideas? apparently my mechanic says the timing if fine so i'm outta ideas and so is he lol
any help?

If your ignition timing is good than you may have intake valve failure, but I doubt that's it. Does your engine even run and idle? or does it just backfire and die?
Check these areas too:
1. Emssions systems not fuctioning properly
2. Fault in the fuel or electrical systems.
3. Faulty secondary igntion system (cracked spark plug insulator or faulty plug wires)
4. Vacuum leak at the throttle body, intake manifold or vacuum hoses.
5. Valves sticking
6. Crossed plug wires

Check the areas I metioned mainly these areas: EGR valve, the distributer drive gear and igition timing as well, any damaged spark plug wires or spark plugs, and test intake vacuum at idle and at full power (driving). Intake vacuum should be around 18 to 21 inches at idle and close to 0 under load at full throttle and intake vacuum should hold steady at idle and not change to much.

it's not the plugs or wires, the timing is fine that's what they fiddled with all day yesterday, my mechanic says it might be the electrical...but hasn't checked
it's throwing a couple codes at us now...
p1345 and p0340
we replaced the cam sensor again....and the timing is good now, but the truck still bogs out when putting it in reverse or drive. Sometimes it stalls sometimes it doesn't.
I'll throw these new suggestions at him and see what happens I guess lol, thanks for the help

P0340 and P1345 are codes related to the camshaft position sensor, from what I was able to look up. Your engine computer may have issues with the sensors. Check to see if might be relearn procedure for the camshaft sensor. I know the crankshaft sensor has a relearn procedure, maybe it might relearn the camshaft sensor too.
