2000 Blazer 4.3 starts then dies
Here is the story:
I bought the truck and drove it home. Ran decently enough. Started it like 5 or 6 more times that night. No problems. 2 days later, I get nothing. Turning off the engine but not firing up. Carb cleaner gets it running. Fuel pressure was too low. Change the fuel pump and pressure is good. Changed the battery, distributor cap, and rotor as they looked like they needed it. Now, the truck starts then it dies. I tried the passlock procedure and that did not change anything. Dies quicker when I step on the gas.

Working through some steps right now with someone. Test lighting and different things. He has experience with the 4.3's and is walking me through it. Injectors are getting signal so apparently not passlock. Checking the fuel system again. If I get it, will report it here for others. In the older days, I would say it is acting almost like a bad EGR but just going step by step right now.

I don't know. Maybe the truck gave up but I hooked up the fuel pressure gauge. Went to crank and it starts. It stayed started and no roughness. I step on the gas and, screw me.... the engine actually revved. So, I don't know what happened but it is running again. BTW, pressure on prime was 61. at crank was around 57 and stayed around there while running.
All I can say is I changed the fuel pump from the first problem. The rest of the items replaced are preventative maintenance as far as I am concerned. Got new plug wires while out getting the fuel pressure gauge kit.

Hi Kadns, Great you got it running but but your security light is still on which means your Passlock system is still on the fritz. I went through a similar problem with my 2005 Blazer. I eventually did the resistor bypass on the yellow-orange/black wires and this worked for a short time with the full passlock/key relearn procedure. Now I'm back to square one again and am going to try replacing the lock cylinder housing. It actually contains the passlock sensor and after the reading I've been doing this may be the answer to solve the recurrence at least until this sensor goes bad too. I have a remote start on my vehicle and found that I can start and stop the vehicle this way with full functionality of all accessories with the key in the on position. Unfortunately the truck dies after 15 minutes so not driveable in traffic. If anyone has done the lock cylinder housing replacement could you please post your experience on this and also any steps to do this. I'm guessing the steering wheel has to be taken off to get at the housing. Did it work for you if you've done the replacement?

Same issue (no security light)
I have a similar issue with my 2000 GMC Jimmy. New air filter, new battery. Car starts then dies when 8 degrees or colder. I have to give it gas and hold it to warm it up then once it is warmed up I can shut it off and it cranks right back up no problem.
