The 3-4 clutches are failing. Need to rebuild or replace transmission. If you drop the pan and put new fluid in you will finish them off in a hurry. Not going to be able to repair while in vehicle.

i dont know.. i'm not a transmission guy either. I worked as a GM tech a few years back and saw 'em getting disassembled all day, but I never touched 'em or paid attention. Quit my apprenticeship (regrettably. I'm fairly young, obviously) and decided to just keep automotive as a hobby and side business.
well, if a TCC solenoid, boost valve and fluid flush doesnt fix it, time to start reading up on rebuilds and go pull one from the yard to start working on.
Agree with transman. This happened to me. Rebuild or new tranny. Manually 1st and 2nd should be fine

Well... ****..
definitely not what I wanted to hear, but I suppose it's best to get a foot forward on a rebuild.
As this is my DD, I have no choice but to ride it till it dies while working on rebuilding a relacement..
I've never rebuilt a transmission, but google and youtube is awesome. I've also stayed in touch with one of the Master GM Techs from the dealership whom could be coaxed to looked it over with me over a 12-pack, lol.
I'm going to the yard tomorrow for a couple other things and could look for a good candidate. Are there specific models, years, etc that might work better in my Blazer? What to look for in a used tranny before pulling?

The guy at Sonnax told me my 4l60e PROBABLY has the .421 boost valve bore due to it being a light duty truck. Should i pull my new tranny off a bigger truck that would have the .470?
sorry if these are dumb questions, I don't know **** about transmissions and have always been weary of learning, but after a few rebuild videos, I'm not quite so intimidated

That's what mine is doing, didnt happen until I changed the transmission filter

I picked this Blazer up a few weeks ago. Didn't seem to have any issues other than being a bit sluggish, so performed some routine maintanence as ritual with every new-to-me vehicle.. Removed and thoroughly cleaned throttle body and IAC. Cleaned MAF with electronic cleaner. Replaced fuel filter and PCV. Oil changed with 10w-30 maxlife synthetic blend..
Now starts up great and idles around 600-700.
a few days after doing all this, I noticed when cruising at any RPMs between 1k - 2k, the tach jumps up and down and loses power until I accelerate over 2k or let my foot off the gas. The speed or gear doesnt seem to affect this, as long as I'm in that range of RPMs, it fluctuates and seems like it's struggling.
I'm new to the whole spider assembly thing, could that be it? Seems like it would do it all the time if that was the culprit.
waiting on new plugs in the mail, anything I should check before I rule those out?
No check engine light and no visible leaks..
thanks!!
I had rpm jumping and couldn't figure it out and then Everytime I put gas in I realized my cap would not fit right so I bought a new one it completely fixed the problem
