Finally able to spend some more time on the Blazer this afternoon
Sorry to all who have been helping, a wicked flu went thru my Pops (we work together had to cover him), then wife and daughter, ran myself into the ground trying to keep up & finally I got it, err....
The good news this afternoon, last part changed was crankshaft position sensor.
Old one that came out was rubbing on timing ring, put new one in with shim.
It just wasn't right.
Pulled timing chain cover.
Timing marks lined up.
Pulled chain set off, balance shaft & cam gear timing marks lined up.
Looked at crankshaft and found front main spun.
Have it 95% apart. Going to office for couple hours early then to shop and finish pulling engine.
Once I get it on stand and pulled apart we will see how bad either way I'm 99% sure a used low mileage running engine is going to cost half what it will cost to fix.
Thank so much to all who have helped, especially Capt!
I would like to continue reporting my trials & tribulations until the old dime is running correctly.
How should I handle with the forum?
Do I continue with this feed or seeing as engine is scrap start new?
Seeing as I'm shopping for another used engine, please give me any advice on what year or changes I should do?
Yes I know an LS with new wiring harness is ultimate but trust & believe this budget is Bankrupt!
My girls need their dime back and I need 2 years to lick my wounds and prepare for a proper swap.
My Pops says I should be mad.
All I can say is I have learned a ton about this little truck so a $200 engine spun a main, its almost out of the truck, maybe this time I do it right?
