Remove it and epoxy! Don't try it in place.

If you can't move it with a wrench with trans in neutral and all 4 wheels off the ground, then yes.

ok i got it to shift out of gear but not sure on the direction to turn.. look like it was all the way to the right was 4 high then going to the left was neutral the 4lo not sure where 2 hi is on the trnsfer .is it to the right or left past 4 hi or past 4 low/ any help please

I believe that the 236 is similar in shift positions as the 231/233/243 transfer cases with the possible exception of the angle between 2HI and 4HI to give some variable lockup of the front prop shaft clutch for the Auto4WD mode.

ok it seems like its backwards from that picture . as im looking at the shaft 4 lo is at the bottom then neutral then 4 hi going right or clockwise, then it seems like it just springs right a little more then back not shifting to 2 hi. thanks for all the help so far guys
