Hey guys, I have done quite a bit of searching so please forgive me if this has been discussed and I didnt see it. I have a 2001 blazer 2 door 2WD. I need to replace the motor and I was wondering what engines I could use. Am I limited to 2001 and later, or are there other years that will work for my truck? I have a 1990 4.3 block available, and from what I have researched it doesnt look like it will work, but I cant seem to find any definite answers. I really appreciate all your help.
Thanks,
Alex

What engine do you have? Is it the 2.8 or do you have the 4.3

Assuming you need a 4.3, it would have to be a 96 and up 4.3 if anything. I can't imagine you wouldn't be able to use an engine from any 2nd gen S-series/astro/jimmy/etc though. Might have to swap over some things like exhaust if its from a 4WD truck.

you could use the '90 engine, however you will need to sawp over the haeds, intake, and all block sensors from your '01. The trouble with this is your '90 is not a roller rocker enigne, nor does it have the balance shaft, plus your timing cover is different then the 90. It'll work, however you wont get the same performance out of hte older block.
You should find a post '00 engine. A good donor list was posted above, plus you can get one from a fullsize truck as well. You should be able to find one pretty easiely.
If you want to do the swap, heres some info about the 4.3L.
