I was driving my blazer today and it shifts into 2nd. Then it starts to climb rpms and right when it is supposed to shift to 3rd, the rpms just jump up to 3500 and never shifts. would keep increasing if I don't let off the gas. Now I can only go maybe 20mph before the rpms go crazy. The car has been showing signs of transmission problems the last month, with hard shifting sometimes. I am at college which is 6hrs away from home, so I really have no choice other than to take it into a trans shop but would like to see what people have to say on the problem.

I would say it's the shift solenoid. Really easy fix, just take valve body cover off and change out the solenoids. You will lose some of your transmission fluid so you'll need to put about 5-6 quarts back in

 

3-4 clutch pack most likely gone, rebuild time

 

What is something like a rebuild going to cost me? If it is the 3-4 clutch pack

 

1200- 1800 maybe? May be better to get a trans from the bone yard.
