Default 2001 Transfer Case Shift Motor ?

How to bench test a transfer case shift motor? 4 pins on the wiring harness & 6 pins on the motor. The dash has 4 buttons. + After changing out a motor or module - do you disconnect the neg battery cable and let everything re think ?

No bench testing of encoder motor. It has a brake that has a circuit to be energized plus energize the motor or it won't move. If not mounted on transfer case it will not be able to tell what position it is in and can just run until it burns up or otherwise gets screwed.

After mounting a new one by turning transfer case shaft to match the new motor position (held in place by plastic piece), you clear the codes and all resets.

Hope this helps.
