Good job! That translates to 5.7g/sec at idle and 120 g/sec at 2000 rpm. That's a little low at 1-2 shift but MAF is not reading far enough off to create a misfire at idle. Again no smoking gun! You may just be missing the actual maximum MAF value due to scanner speed or just didn't see the maximum. OK - so lets go to the factory diagnostic chart for P0101. I'll post it soon.

Attached is the factory info for P0101. Please study it in detail before attempting. Please ask questions about anything you don't understand or wish to know. I believe you can get through this diagnostic chart just fine using your existing scanner. You should be able to read the MAP sensor and TP sensor with it (more basic OBD2 functions). Best wishes for a successful repair.

I never knew that chasing a misfire would be so difficult. This is by far the most stubborn vehicle I’ve ever dealt with.

They are all like that anymore when they have a problem. Once in a while you can get one where things are simple, but not so often anymore!

What you need is an old Sun scope where you can short out each cylinder one at a time and look at RPM drop. Vident can trigger the PCM to do a test where each fuel injector is cut out one at a time - cylinder balance test. That is the equivalent modern test. But that takes a scanner with bidirectional control and the capability.

I forgot to answer this one.

Good observation

100 kPa would be a normal reading for engine shut off .
100kPa = 29.53 inches of mercury (absolute pressure, similar to barometric pressure).
also 100kPa = 0.987 (~1) atmosphere.
also 100kPa = 1 bar

So I was checking the wires at the computer and found this plug with the wires cut. Not even sure what it goes to.

That is connector C102 - a jumper from the body wiring harness to the engine wiring harness. 2 wires: ckt 1694 gray/blk (4WD low signal) and ckt 1695 blk/white (axle switch signal). See attachments. I am assuming yours is 4WD vehicle - maybe not! The plug doesn't look like wires are cut - just not plugged into the rest of the connector.

That connector would be unplugged on a 2WD. No problem there!

So when I bought this thing I forgot to mention that the map sensor was missing. So I pulled one off of a 5.3 intake that I had. I looked them both up and the part numbers matched but it’s reading between 39 and 40kpa at idle in closed loop. Is that normal as well?

and now both my long fuel trims are reading at -8.6 and idle. This is all confusing.
