Default 2002 Engine noise (knock)

Well, Here's my latest of problem, the list has been getting longer in the last month.....I have searched and read a few posts and I think its a rod knock but not sure and am hopeing for some more insite....2 days ago I noticed a slight ticking sound when I 1st started the truck in the morning, didnt pay much attention to it. well I go to start my truck this morning, 1st morning of Frost on the windows so it was cold, and all I hear is this horrible knocking sound, I get out and it sounds like it is coming from the lower passenger side of the engine. I let it warm up a bit, as it warms up it gets quieter, I have to get to work, I'm already late so I drive it to work, by the time I get to work about 10 miles away the sound is gone. I went to start it around 130 this afternoon, temps in the high 40's low 50's and its knocking just as loud as this morning. I'm brining it to a garage tommorow but am looking to see what I should be expecting for possible problems and cost. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Jon

Well an update, I went to drive it home and it now sounds more like a tick on the top end, loud at 1st then quiets down as it warms up, went almost completely away after 5 minutes. The tick is still there all of the time but veryt hard to hear even with hood popped......

Sounds like the same problem on My 04 and i wish i had some good news but it will get louder you just have to deal with it. Its either a lifter cam lobe the camshaft itself is shot or Rocker arm. It will be expensive for a Mechanic to rip and there and take a guess to what it might be.

I would say until it causes a problem and u can really identify where its at leave it alone i wasnt willing to spend about 500 dollars for a guess on mine.

Yeah I had a former mechanic listen to it, and of course when he did it only made the noise for a couple seconds right after start up....with the little time it gave him he says he thinks its a lifter...and to deal with it for now, not worth the $ to fix especially since now I'm really looking to trade the blazer in, 85k miles and way to many issues in the last 2 years.....
