Hi all, I'm having an issue with my 2003 Chevy Blazer. About a month ago I was going on the highway when my blazer wasn't up to temperature, and I was trying to get up to 75 mph when I got to 50 the transmission started acting like it was getting stuck in either 3rd or 4th gear and so I kept my foot on the gas and when it wasn't going past 50 it started acting like it was losing power then my RPMs shot all the way up to 3 when it was at 2. I got off the highway and checked my trans fluid and it showed it was a quart low so I went to the auto parts store and put in a quart and when I started driving home the trans seemed fine then a few minutes later it acted like it was slipping. my blazer can't go more than 50 mph now and takes a long time to get up to 30 mph. does anyone know what the problem is? is it something I could fix on my own in my driveway? any help would be appreciated.

If the CEL light is on get it scanned and see what codes are stored. From the description you gave sounds like the transmission was in failsafe mode (3rd) gear only. Continued running of vehicle will cause considerable more damage. I’m with Christine_208, on the problem you have described. Being a quart low on fluid and running highway speeds is sure death to the 3-4 clutch pack and band.
