Default 2007 4.3 swap to a 98 s10

What will it take to make the swap . I have a 2007 4.3 motor out of a full size truck that I want put in a 98 s10. I know the plugs on the knock sensors on the 2007 has 2 wires and the 98 s10 only has one wire

I believe one of the biggest problems you will have is the crank sensor hardware, but I'm not sure if it will swap over. Never heard of anyone doing this swap.

If I remember right from the first time I looked at this extensively....

1. Oil pans. 4x4 has a deeper pan; 2WD is a shallow pan. Swapping oil pans is one thing Hollander lists.

2. Is there a remote oil filter on the full size. This has it's own gasket of sorts; guy used RTV Black on mine in lieu of and it leaked all over the place. This another consideration.

3. The fuel injectors. They had either TBI (VIN Z) or MPFI (VIN W VIN X was supposedly even another EFI (Astro van?) and there was even a VIN T on some!?!?! (GMC..? A truck? I dont know. I recall something about a VIN T. For a 4.3) and supposedly the fuel injectors can swap.. not sure about that, though. ECU issues... if it has to be the same or can change, not sure.

4. Valve covers are supposed to be able to swap, might be different.

5. Something about a timing cover I think was the 5th note on "things to swap" they had them listed A-E on a year range.

I also seem to recall fasteners, connectors and screws being different from GMC to Chevy (connectors different shapes, different pin-outs) but it has been so long.. I just remember a shop I used to apprentice at spending HOURS doing custom re-wiring, making Yukon XL parts fit in a Suburban. Heh.

There are probably a million different things in that 4.3 that's a long year range and likely different VINs. I am simply speaking from memory, I think I ended up with an engine from a 92 or a 94 (95?) in my 93.. similar issues will likely arise in what you are trying to do.. I hope this info is helpful.

What does the Hollander Interchange say about it?

EDIT: It probably will not work. 2007 in a full size is an LU3 motor; S10 98 is an L35.

Here is some reference as to 4.3 info from another site. https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/2475110/L35_or_LU3_engine_preferrable_

EDIT 2: Had that issue before, too.. not looking at a sensor before got it. New one was two wires, old one was 1. I think it was for the temperature sensor. Old Firebird 350 one had one wire. Newer models had two. They both work, many 350SBC sensors work on 4.3s since it is - with minor differences, the biggest of which is 2 less cylinders - the same engine. BUT. You will find that one of the wires is just a ground .

Figure which wire is the signal wire
That one goes back to where it is supposed to
And ground out the other one
To the frame
Or another ground point
If you must
And can't find a one wire connector
From another model
Of the same engine
Such as.. on an older Firebird (earlier year) with a 350SBC
or maybe even a Suburban or something with a 5.7
Which may be a one wire connector
That will work.
