Please help...
I have a 2008 trailblazer with an issue. I have had issues taking the shifter out of park and putting it back in. Sometimes when I have it in reverse I can feel the parking pawl rubbing through the linkage.
Then, I was having trouble getting it in a gear.
So far I have down the following;
Changed the shifter cable
Changed the neutral safety switch
Changed the brake light switch
Greased up the shifter
Changed the shifter Solenoid
So now i can't get the transmission to engage. When i shift it into drive, i can hear it ramping up but the wheels wont turn. I have checked the fuses, brake lights work, shifter Solenoid works.
Before all of this started with the linkage the transmission was working fine, shifting properly.

What transmission does it have? A 4L60E? I sounds like something might have failed inside it. Do you have any codes? If it was running, I'd say take it to a transmission shop to get it diagnosed.
Yes, that is the transmission. I only had a very basic obdll tester and it didn't show any codes.
I guess I will drop the pan and see what is going in there.

Could you rent or borrow a more capable OBD reader from an auto parts store?Originally Posted by Blazerhelp2008

Good evening,
So, here is the latest. I picked up a hetter tester but still no codes.
I decided to drop the pan and it was clean amazingly clean. So, I started to look at other components and that is when I noticed that the driveshaft wasn't moving when I tried to turn it (and yes it was in neutral...lol). For the heck of it i decided to pull the decoder off and click, I could all of a sudden the driveshaft could move.
When I tried to reinstall the decorder, I noticed that it wouldn't line up. When I would try to line it up the driveshaft didn't turn.
I know that when I would turn the switch, it would make noise in all of the positions (auto, 4 wd high and 4 low and back).
Thoughts?

I'm not familiar with this decoder? Can you describe it?
How much would it cost to buy the service manuals for your Blazer? That is likely the ultimate source of info second only to a transmission shop.

Sure sounds like you are talking about the 4wd transfer case encoder.
When you replaced all of the transmission shift linkage components, did you follow the proper procedure for adjusting the shift cable?
When you are expecting the driveshaft to turn, do you have the transmission in neutral and all 4 wheels off the ground or just the rear wheels? I am trying to get all of the context behind your comments to follow what you think is at fault here.
