Default 218k miles on original 4.3 Engine - Anybody have more?

I've got 218,000 miles on the 96 Chevy Blazer I bought new in 1995. It's never had a major problem and the engine has never been rebuilt. It runs great and I just installed my second set of new oil cooler lines as preventive measure.

Any guess as to how much longer this engine will go with proper maintenance....What's the record?

That holds true the second you drive something off the dealers lot. Regardless how new or old it is. Parts can last forever, some will last long enough to get you from the dealer to your house.

You could do a complete rebuild of your ENTIRE drivetrain system, and end up with a faulty part leaving you stranded in the middle of nowhere.

My dads blazer is close with 1k under 200k. shes still running strong, never any rebuild or major expenses, the only things that were replaced is the oil cooler lines and right now we have a ripped motor mount It actually runs great, better than mine with only 70k!

EDIT * It's a 96*

Give me a couple more years and I should be there. I've got a 2000 I bought new in Oct '00 and just turned 180,000. Averaging over 20,000 mile a year thus far and still running strong.

I wouldn't say you are on borrowed time. I've got a '90 C1500 with over 300,000 miles and it still runs strong. Proper maintenance will do wonders to the longevity of vehicles.

95 Chevy Blazer and just rolled over 325,000 the other day. Only had the truck for a couple weeks now but engine sounds great. Perhaps mine was built on a Wednesday

Sorry, I miss read it. Looked like 200,000+ km not miles. So ya, I'm at 325,000km which only works out to 202,000miles
