Hey all,
Ive recently become the proud owner of a '96 Blazer LT. I purchased this vehicle with the intention of being able to do a bit of 4x4 ing.
Alas since the purchase it has developed gremlins.
When the vehicle is cold its great but ive noticed that as it warms up to normal operating temperature the gearbox starts shifting from 2nd to 3rd then will shift back to 2nd again and then back to 3rd before continuing fine with the rest of the gear change. Then sometimes it will go to shift from 2nd to 3rd but rather than shift it will rev up. In the case like this ive noticed that if i take my foot off the accelerator and give it a quick blip then it changes to 3rd and carries on as if nothing were wrong. When it goes into 4th gear it runs like a dream.
Another fault is that it wont engage into 4wd, neither high or low. I have checked the vehicle in the air and when its in 2wd the front prop is stationary but the rear is operating when accelerating. If you push the 4wd hi button then the front prop starts to turn but the front wheels remain stationary while the rear wheels are turning.
Any ideas on either of these problems would be great.
Thanks in advance to anyone and everyone.

For your 4wd problems --> 4x4 No Worky.... Maybe this will help....
2-3 gear changes can experience a slip-flare issue due to poor line pressure. A bad TPS signal can also cause issues with shifting. I would start by measuring the output from the TPS sensor making sure that it ranges from ~0.5V at closed throttle up to ~4.5V at wide open throttle.

hey swartlkk, checked over on the operation of the TPS and its working perfectly within specifications so no go there regarding the shift issue. I have also performed a full diagnostics on the vehicle and there are no error codes on any of the systems. I have found out that the Transmission was completely overhauled and when i chatted with the company that did the overhaul they recon that the problem will be with the valve body and they recommend that i replace it. I have no ideas regarding the replacement of valve bodies. Has anyone had a similar problem where they have had to change the valve body to get results?

Hey all, ok i had the scan tool attached and while driving i noticed that it showed the current gear that i was in as continually fluctuating between the actual gears i should have been in. Any ideas or has anyone had this happen with them before?
