4l60e question
#1
Im starring a project on a 96 blazer 2wd. It has no reverse and im pretty sure its the sun gear. So my question is after i get the 4l60e pulled from the truck can i just simply remove the pump and get to sun gear or does the entire valve body have to be removed. Im 16 and has never done transmission work a day in my life i do plan on replacing the filter while its out but i dont wanna have to remove the valve body if i dont have to. If i have to remove it i will im also looking for tips on the removal of the transmission as i will be doing it by myself.

You dont have to take the valve body out to remove the sun gear.Just because you have noverse are you sure its the sunshell causing it.If its bad you will hear grinding or noise when the trans is in gear.Could be maybe just the reverse clutchs are burnt. Also google diagram for the trans this will show you how everything fits in place.Doing trans jobs by yourself arent fun I was 17 when I did mine out of an old Dodge I had LOL.Last year I did one on my blazer by myself and Im almost 50 not fun.You have an advanntage big time your youth.Good luckwith it.

I can answer questions on the boost valve since I changed mine last year.If your looking at the front of the trans it will be on the left side of the valve body.If I remember correctly theres a bolt that holds a bracket with tougue and groove thing that holds it in.You remove that and it slides out.As to tell if its worn or not if the trans was shifting weak over all while the vehicle was running it would indicate a weak boost valve. The boost valve creats line presure for the trans inside the valve body.If the trans is out it might fit loosely inside its hole where its placed at and there would be alotof scuffing along with a worn O roing.
On the reverse clutchs you have to completely remove the entire drum assembly and take out all the clutches and steels to get to it.I recogmend you study the manual and diagram intensely.
