Default 4l60e stuck in limp mode

Ok guys I have a 99 4x4 blazer with the 4 button switch. couple months back I blew the motor on the interstate because the trans slipped spun a rod bearing. I bought a wrecked 98 4x4 blazer 3 button switch for the motor and trans out of it drove it over a hour home so I know there is nothing wrong with them I had no issues.I finished the install lastnight motor fired up no problem let it run for 30 minutes or so before I went anywhere when I took off its very sluggish like its stuck in 3rd gear (limp mode) and the speedo is no longer working either. I cannot manually shift into 1st or 2nd its just 3rd thats all I got. Ive seen online that 98 will not interchange with 99 am I going to have to find a exact match 99 trans to go back in it or is there something I can do to make this trans work?

P.S. I did put the original transfer case back in and my engine light has not come on so Im assuming no codes are being thrown by the trans but will have it checked today

Is the dash gear indicator lighting up in all selections? Sounds like you have lost power to the transmission. Might ck. fuses.

I must say Transman304 , your awesome , The questioned you answered for me would not be answered by 2 of the shops in town ....both wanted to do a diagnostic.

I always put myself in the customers shoes. If I can suggest a few things to check that they can do or I can do in a couple minutes it gets done. Now if the scanner or having to put on the lift that would be charged for time spent. Let me know what you find out. Still may be a few other areas to check. Good luck!
