Default 4x4 engaging by itself

Hey Folks! While driving down the road ,all lights on my selection switch start to flash and it feels like its going into 4wheel and back out by itself!!Tried disconnecting the battery for a while,Now when I turn the key on or start the vehicle all the lights flash then I hear a click click under my glove box, this continues nonstop .Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Ric
