Default 4x4 s10 oil filter relocation

Has anyone removed the remote oil filter and went back to a filter on the block on the 262 it would have to be a lot shorter oil filter to clear the front drive shaft, to many places for it to leak with all the lines and seals for the fender well mounted oil filter

It's been done about a 1000 times! You just buy the adapter and your done. I think I remember seeing that a filter from a 2.2 sunfire (hope I'm right on that) will work since it's shorter. I did the delete but I am running the fullsize filter since I'm SAS and don't have to worry about stuff in the way

Edit: here's your part http://m.summitracing.com/parts/nal-14081300/overview/

My hoses (1996 Blazer) need replaced(originals). May do the hydraulic hose w/hose clamps mod I saw on here somewhere but this adapter is another option.

Other sites say the filter from a Cavalier/Sunbird (I used 1990) w/2.2 can be used(NAPA FIL1036). Others say FIL 1040.The FIL 1036 is 4.8" long. The FIL 1041 is only 3.4".

Here is the oil filter number you will need - WIX 51036 You can cross reference that number to other brands if you need to. Will fit on the block, its not hard changing the oil after you put it on the block

Awesome thanks for the info . I have the adapter already from the 4.3 2x4 swap I did this weekend . Spun a bearing in the original engine I'm gonna take the adapter to the parts house after checking how much room I have to work with and try the part number that rich gave . Ended up with a 262 that I found on Craig's list with a cam in it for 300bucks can't wait to hit the trail memorial day weekend !!!
