89 S10 Blazer 4.3 Starting issue
Trying to get my son’s 89 Blazer running before he gets his license. Bought it with a blown head gasket. Everything has been repaired and put back together. We’re getting fuel to the TBI but all it is doing is turning over and not starting. Timing is correct. Pulled out the #1 plug and turned it over until it was at TDC. Also took the distributor cap off and the button is pointing in the general direction of #1 cylinder at TDC. I do not have the air cleaner on so that line is off of the throttle body. Any help would be appreciated.
I am a gen 2 guy so I don’t know much about your engine but have you checked for spark at a plug end during cranking?
Do you have a fuel pressure test port? I believe that TBI engines need 9-12 psi which would need to be maintained during cranking.

Verify that you are truly at TDC on the compression stroke. The timing mark on the Crank shaft pulley needs to line up with the 0 Degree Mark on the timing scale. Use a timing light to verify that you have spark at the coil wire and also going to the spark plug. while cranking the engine. If the timing is correct and verified and you have spark the next thing I would do is pour a small amount of gas into the TBI. Crank the engine and if it now starts you know you have a fuel delivery issue. (There are no fuel pressure test ports on TBI)
