Default 89 s10 blazer dies then starts moments later

my 89 s10 blazer recntly started aving an issue. the check engine lght will come on and then sometimes it will die and not want to start up agin. ireplaced the fuel filter and the coil.i cant seamto figure ut whats wrong. anyone had this issue? its the 4.3 automatic. please help. im not very car savvy this is my first time trying to fix the problem rather then sell the car because i love my blazer

What is the 8th character of the VIN?

Have you checked the fuel pressure?

no not yet i dont have a fuel pressure gauge to do so with

Most auto parts stores rent/sell/loan pressure testers. Make sure it specifically says "GM TBI" systems. The air cleaner must be removed to access the test port on the throttle body and it usually has a black plastic cap on it, (the fitting looks much like a tire valve stem). Remove the cap and attach the pressure tester. With the engine at idle, pressure must be 9psi to 13psi.

isnt there a pressure tester that can be connected where the fuel filter is? thats what my brother was tellin me.

You can check it there, but it requires more fooling around to adapt the tester to the lines.

ok thanks for your help im waiting on some money right now to go rent the tester. i will post again if its not that. thank you. oh, whats the 8th letter of my vin got to do with anything? jw

and is there any way that you could post a picture of what im looking for to hook the tester up to? it would help me out alot
