91 k5 400R4 Trasmission swap
So I apologize if there is a thread for this already and I just missed it. Having issues with my 700r4 making cyclical grind noise in reverse, will drive in 1st gear but second is gone. So I found another 700r4 from a donor vehicle. Both have the old TV style cable. The TBI was removed and an aftermarket carb setup was run on both trucks.. So my question is since they were both running and driving fine before, will the donor trans be able to be bolted in or will adjustments need to be made? I had one shop tell me they won't do the swap as I will just burn it up because of the switchover to a carburetor. Thanks for any input. It is much appreciated.
The TV cable MUST be adjusted properly if you want the transmission to last. I wouldn't take for granted that it will be right just because they both had carburetors. It's not that difficult to check/adjust, but I'm not really familiar with the procedure. I'm sure you can find it with a quick search, though.
