hello all, I am new to the blazer and was wondering if anyone out here could give me the benefit of your experence when it comes to pulling the engine, mine has amain bearing and or rod bearing going out, upon start up it's quite but after a warm up it rattles to death and won't go over 30 mph without the tranny slipping, anyway I found a junk yard beauty to pop in while I attempt to rebuild the orginal engine( can't be with out a ride, it's the only one right now) any trick or tip will be welcome.
thanks
Tony

When undoing the bellhousing bolts either jack the body up off its mounts or take out the tranny crossmember and let the tailshaft sit on a jack just lower itenough that it gives you room to access the top bolts

Really not hard, just label all the wiring when disassembling it. I would replace the donut gaskets and the front seal in the tranny while it is out though.

I am finishing mine up now. It is very tight. Dropping the tail of the trans or raising the body is a must. The driver side tranny bolt is a no reach without doing something.
Make sure to soak all the exhaust bolts well before starting. The plugs behind the distributor are impossible without pulling the it out. Tranny lines bolted to the side of the block that are alightly sucky to get to. There is a lot more to a 4x4 that a car I found out.
