95 blazer, shifting problems

Let my truck warm up for about 15 minutes, started driving to work. Everything seemed ok and was shifting fine. Drove for about 10 minutes and all of a sudden it didn't want to shift. It shifted one time and then when it gets to about 40-45 usually shifts again but wouldn't shift. The RPM's went to about 5000 so I let off the gas and took her home. Checked fluid and was about half quart low. Added fluid and still does same thing. I can't afford to rebuild the trans. Could it be a shift solenoid or speed sensor? She was fine the day before, no slipping or hesitation or sounds. Where are the shift solenoids on a 95 blazer? I was told they were on the side of the tranny but others told me they are inside the pan.

probably not a speed sensor. when you say it shifted once, and then usually shifts again at 40-45 but didn't... and you were taching at 5000? would you say you were in 2nd gear? if so you are likely in limp mode. That's not such a bad thing, that can mean there is electrical problem that threw your tranny into limp mode until it can be fixed. Solenoids are in the pan but servos are on the outside.. Lets figure out what gear you're in
NO check engine lights?

with all the reading i've done i could be wrong in saying this and if so someone correct me... but there is just a big of a chance that something in a connection/circuit is wrong somewhere as there is a chance you smoked a clutch. you'll have to do the whole checklist.

I only felt it shift once. When it was supposed to normally shift the next time it wouldn't shift. I stepped on the gas to see if it would kick into the next gear the rpm's just went up and it wouldn't shift. When I first left, it was fine and went through all the shifts. I drove it about 10 minutes before I noticed it wouldn't shift right. It usually shifts about 30mph then again at around 40-45. The rpm's went to between 4 and 5. I didn't want to push it anymore so just took it home.
