My daughters car developed a shifting issue. When you put it in OD, it goes from 1st to 2nd and then appears to go into neutral before going back to 2nd.
I can manually shift it into 1st or 2nd but when I put it in D, it acts like Neutral.
I noticed a vacuum line cut under the transfer case. Repaired it - no change.
I disconnected the battery to get at the vacuum line - not sure if that had any influence. I hate to replace the tranny if it is something else less expensive. Fluid level was a little low. Added a half pint. I think it looked clean but need to re-check. Prior to this, it shifted OK, but you had to let it warm up for a minute before it would shift OK.

Check the fluid condition. I'm betting a rebuild is in the near future. How many miles on vehicle?

 

The vehicle has 133K, which I would think is low for tranny issues.
