Afternoon guys I have a 95 Jimmy and while driving home the other night it started smoking like mad then stopped then came back but not as much was very close to home thank goodness parked it and found fluid all underneath truck. It looks as if it may be the pan gasket has gone bad but its hard to tell. I replaced the gasket and filter about 3-4 years ago so I am planning to jack up and move forward with the thought as its a bad gasket do any of you guys have any other things that I should check or do before dropping pan? Before it started smoking it was driving/shifting fine and after letting it set and then later I pulled into my barn it would shift perfect into gear but you could tell it was definatly low on fluid I pulled into barn. Any thoughts and or help would be greatful.

first off, spray everything down with some degreaser. Then wash it all off with a good spray nozzle on a hosepipe. let it dry,NOW you can see where its leaking. it'll either be the pan, tailshaft seal,or front seal. Just hope its not the front seal.

Well, you look for leaks lol. If its the rear seal, itll be the seal where the driveshaft slides into the transmission. If its the pan, well ofcourse the pan will be wet. If its the front, itll run down and out of a lil hole of the bellhousing cover.
If its the pan,try tightening the bolts down a little on the side its leaking. Dont torque em down,or extremely tight.
