ATSG makes a detailed manual for the 4L60E/4L65E. I'm sure if you do some googling you could even find a copy of the real deal GM overhaul manual. I found both the ATSG & GM manuals to be a bit too technical for a DIY approach. There is tons of information in them, but they gloss over a lot of what a first-time/only-time person would want to know.
For a good step by step manual, the book published by ATRA and written by Cliff McCormick has excellent step by step instructions with pictures. I found a bunch of these old ATRA books at a yard sale for $5 each so I have them on the shelf for later reference if the need arises. They are not longer available new so your looking for them at yard sales or eBay if you want one.
My advice, watch some rebuild videos on youtube until you find a creator that goes to the level of detail you want, watch it 10x minimum, then have it playing/paused as you work through your transmission.
