Default 96 blazer occasionally dies while driving, starts hard

While going down the road at highway speeds engine will cut out and restart again, will also start rough with the clouds of a poorly mixed smelling exhaust. Ran the ses code a few months bavk and got the common replace gas cap solution. Truck will run fine otherwise just the hiccups. Today i found a broken vac line from that black ball under the hood. Red fluid leaking out. Antifreeze or tranny? Both red. Could this at all be related? Capped the line with a sheetrock screw and made it home with no issues today, but also had a full tank of gas...maybe just a fluke? Four wheel drive does also not engage fully and maybe there is some relation to all of this???
