Default 96 Blazer Trasmission/Brake Issues?

I have a 96 Blazer with 130K miles. Recently I have had issues when shifting out of Park or Drive and into Reverse. Upon moving the shifter and placing into into R the engine will die, not always and not predictably - hot, cold etc. It also die recently while rolling up to an intersection, the engine cut out as soon as I hit the brake. Always starts up immediately afterward, battery, alternator all checkout OK. It doesn't have a problem as long as I move passed R as well e.g. P to D. Is there some electrical issue from the steering column or something larger in the transmission? Any ideas? Doesn't seem to present any other transmission issues.

just for giggles check the connection to your ICM, With the truck running wiggle it around a bit and c what happens.. I chased a problem like yours on my trans am for along time turned out to be a almost broke wire in the icm plug.
