Default 96 engine in a 95?

Is it possible to put a 96 4.3 into a 95? I'm sure you can, but without a good amount of modification? I need to replace the engine in my 95 and I have an engine from a 96, I was told this will not work. Is this true? and if so, why so?

first off i am not sure if the 95-96 obd swap to obdII swap was in those years. i only thought of that because of the electronics.

i just swapped a 99 v6 into my 95 mustang that had a v6. they are basically the same engine except electronics. what i did was swap all the electronics to the 99 from the 95 engine before i scrapped it.

They both have OBD2, since its a mixed year 95. The plug for the computer are exactly the same.
