I have a 97 4x4 blazer with 4L60e auto trans that accelerates fine until it hits about 35mph. It then sounds like it is in neutral until I put it in L2. L3 does not work as well. Reverse works ok. Its been leaking fluid heavily for some time (front seal?) and even ran out of fluid on me recently (shame on me) causing it to overheat. It has push button 4x4 controls but I locked it in 2hi earlier this year when CEL came on and found that "4lo solenoid circuit" was open or had failed (something to that nature), forgot the DTC. Ran fine for months then recently started riding sluggish, low fluid I assume. Then finally just stopped shifting. JUST PRIOR to that I kept blowing the #16 fuse(turn/ bkup), and I was having a hard time cranking it up the day it went out on me. It usually has an easy start. In fact it will start right up now. It has 237k miles but for $600 thought it was a good truck to work on. Trying to see it hit 300k! Oh and a buddy says a motor mount is busted. Dont know how long thats been though. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

ok dont take my word for it but i belive you need a tew trans lol now i dont know everything about rebuilding a trans however i read that the 4l60e was voted the #1 overall trans ever built and where pretty common so IMO i would go to the junk yard and spend $100 and get a trans most lickly if its full of fluid and it looks clean it might be a good one. i would drop the pan with it in the truck at the junkyard and see how everything looks if there was alot of gunk and grit in there look for another one when u found a nice looking one buy it then change fluid and filter and for sure new torque converter and might go so far as a new pump on ebay remand pumps are like 65 bucks not to bad after that put a drain plug in the pan just incase latter on down the road you want to do a little upkeep on it helps with the mess of fluid but after its all said and done i would bet that your new trans would last you another 100,000 miles

Yeah it seems like no matter what needs to be fixed, the old tranny has to come out anyway. I actually called a junkyard first and they said I can pull my own for $75. Guess that is my best option for now huh? I've never rebuilt one before so maybe I can ride on the junked one until I get the original completely rebuilt. I do like all the info I've found on these 4L60e's. Mainly the "SS Mega Monster rebuild kit" that can be ordered online for around $700. Was hoping it was another electrical prob but oh well....thanks for the response jwalker1992.
