I would try Torque Free to see if Torque will connect using your existing OBD2 device (I am betting that it will if your existing is an Android program). If it connectes, then buy Torque Pro and enter the formula for cam sensor retard.

I bought the app Torque Pro maybe a month ago it was on sale for like $2 and tried 2 different elm327 and the new one from Walmart appears to not be a elm327 compatable device I guess it’s own and runs off innova. Been really wanting to try torque and save myself the couple hundred on a decent scan tool tablet.

i took care of the plug issue and miss 2 instantly came back. That said it does have a a little more power now that cylinder 2 is getting spark . appears from looking at my old cap that possibly cylinder 2 is getting a double fire or losing its fire im unsure exactly. Haven’t replaced cap yet still waiting to hook a capable scanner up before doing so.

my main question to you I got to tinkering with my old distributor and saw on another post in this forum which makes sense aswell. That really all this is doing is yes getting it in line with the cam but also getting it better in line with the posts in the distributor cap and rotor so they fire more properly . To eliminate the crossfire as if it was firing between 2 cap posts. Instead of more towards one.

say I was to set it at tdc. Where the rotor points to the #6 on the distributor and then from their leaving the distributor in place “do necessary tie down mods” and then slightly counter clockwise spin the distributor so that the cylinder 1 cap pin perfectly lines up with the rotor. Would that give me the same effect?

You are correct about the getting rotor in proper orientation to the terminals so spark doesn't jump to wrong one. In post #2 I did say "Rotor needs to be pointing correctly when the crank sensor tells PCM to send the spark or you can get a misfire."

Doing visual things with the #6 on the distributor and TDC on the balancer doesn't work well for cam sensor retard. I have mine set to -0.4 and the 6 is nearby but not straight on at TDC (and I had a new balancer and timing chain when this was set.). Believe me, get the software to check it for sure. Who said that aligning terminals up at TDC was where it needed to be. Spark varies from near zero up to near 50 degrees BTDC.

good luck!
