ABS & ParkingBrake light problem????

ABS bulb wasnt even in place in mine. Got that fixxed and now my ABS light is on with the Park light
WHen i put in parking brake i guess the parkinglight is supposed to go on. Where is the sensor for the parking brake since i suspect thats why the parking light is on. It thinks the parking brake is on even if its not.
Also i got a beeping sound sometimes from near the P-brake lever and when i knock on the dash near the P-Brake lever it stops. Does it have a summer there to warn that my P-Brake is on ?

The ABS light and the park light go on in sequence, so it's not necessarily your park brake that's stuck. Have you inspected your wheel speed sensors on the front hubs? That's the most common problem for the ABS/park light being on. 9 times out of 10 the sensor (or sensors) are bad.

I had both my dash orange ABS light and red brake light come on almost every day on my 2001 Blazer over the last two years. During those periods I would have regular brakes but not ABS. I finally noticed a pattern of it only occuring on a warm engine restart before I drove off, making me suspect something under the hood. I found that by shifting to neutral when I was driving on a quiet street about 30 mph, barely turning off the key to stop the engine for a few seconds then restarting, it would clear the lights in one or two attempts and restore my ABS for as long as that trip lasted. I used this dangerous solution to put up with the problem for a long time.
Over the years through checking this forum for advice, I checked the ABS front panel ground, cleaned and reseated all the ABS and brake system electrical connectors, and finally inspected and tested the front wheel speed sensors by disconnecting them and spinning the front wheels, getting a good test with increasing millivolts from about 200 to 600+ mV as I spun faster. I did not check the rear wheel sensor in the transmission as it's said to be least likely to fail. After all that and reading several members' success having their module rebuilt, I decided to try that. It was really easy to remove and I was still able to drive without it (regular brakes and speedo ok, just an ABS light but no brake light). After 10 days and $150 (versus $600 to $900 for dealer new part) I got it back, with a rebuild that is supposed to be better than new. The warning lights have not come back in the last three weeks and I am finally starting to relax. If my symptoms sound like your problem, check out modulemaster.com.

I am so glad I am not the only one with this issue. Thanks for posting everyone. I have had this problem with my 01 since 2007. Not sure I really want to put that much money into an auto with almost 200,000 miles on it.

What a great thread. I have the same problem as Engineer--both my lights come on and stay on at startup--then sometimes they don't come on at all. They never come on while driving. I am thinking about going the modulemaster route. Can someone give me some guidance on where this module is located?

The Modulemaster website has a wizard to check your failure symptoms. Mine weren't fully described there or I might have sent in my module earlier. I later called them to describe and they still suggested I send in as it was most likely to be a failing relay, one of the parts they replace. You should also view their photos of repairable modules. Mine was the most common Kelsey Hayes 325.

I have a 2dr 2000 chevy blazer...seems more of you with this problem have the 2001.
My ABS and breaking warning light are coming up randomly at startup. If it doesn't come up within a minute of startup it won't come on.
Should i try disconnecting the battery?
A friend of mine believes its the sensor on the wheel based on my desciription...and mechanics w/o inspection have told me it could be the sensors or possible transmission issue tho my speedometer is working perfectly fine. I passed a break safety inspection last week as well....and no brake fluid leak.

Seems this problem isn't only with the 2001s, I have a 2003 with the same problem. Of course it doesn't appear to affect anything important at the moment, so not tops on to-do list. But, come next March I will need to get it smogged and the ABS light can't be on when you go. So hopefully next spring that company mentioned earlier will be the way to go for a recondition instead of a whole new unit.

Since I have bought mine. it was raining and the roads were wet and i hit a bump and the ABS and brake lights both the symbols (!)(P) are also on. I shut the vehicle off and when i restaarted it nothing came on. On my way to work today both the lights came on again. I am not sure if it is the madule by reading it sounds like it could be or it is just the sensors.

My 2000 LS Blazer has the same problem. And of course, the combination switch is also bad! lol. Only 126k.
