i have a 97 blazer, recently their has been a noise coming from the right side of the hood by the glove box section, everytime i accelerate it sounds as if im driving a dirt bike, i cant keep the car to go past 60mph or the check light comes on flashes and stays on, then when i begin a incline and rev to move up engine begins to choke wont go past 40mph and dies. also i looked at my engine and where you pour water/anti, their is a hose that leads out from the top of the container well that hose leads to nothing it dosnt connect to nothing? its just sitting their. is it suppose to be connected to the radiator or anything perculier. i recently had a tune up a few weeks ago, thinking that can be the problem but all is same. thanks.

that is the coolant reservoir overflow hose. That isn't supposed to be connected anything. Your problem sounds like it may be a fuel issue. Pull the oil dipstick and see how full it is, if it is overfull and smells like coolant, then you have coolant leaking into the block.
Things i would have checked are the fuel injector, fuel filter, fuel pump.
Is the truck leaking anything?
It could also be a misfire due to bad plugs, distributer, or wiring.

So I flushed the system added new antifreeze, but same problem with the noise coming from the passenger side anything else I can change or do to it, I still haven't gotten around to change the fuel pump, what is the average price for a mechanic to change the pump?

Before you buy a new pump you should to a fuel pressure and leakdown test to confirm there is a fuel problem. Also, you may want to take it to an exhaust shop for an exhaust pressure check. The cat may be clogged as well.

I agree with the fuel pressure leak down test. That will tell you if its the fuel pump. How over full is the oil?
If its really overfull and thin... If you have a CPI motor (Central Port Injected) which means you would have a "Spider Injector" in the plenum. They are infamous for cracking and letting gas into the oil
Thats what happened to me. Do you have a picture of your motor you can post?
