Default bad bellt tensioner?

my serpentine belt makes a lot of noise. yes there is a nice glaze on it. now the question is the belt tensionerspose tobounce around when the truck is running? I never noticed it moveing around like that before but know itbounces arounda lot.I was told if it bounces around its worn out. need replaced. also would a bad tensioner put that nice glaze on the belt. belt is new last year. ( gates belt)

It could just be worn out. The glaze is most likely from the belt slipping (squeaking). Is your belt taught when the engine is off?

You also might want to make sure the tensioner is installed correctly.

it is tight but how tight is it spose to be i dont know. I can push on the belt and see the tensioner move. Like i said it bounces up and down when the truck is running. good or bad. dont know. but i was told it not spose to bounce.

U need to get in good with your local NAPA those guys seem to have a lot of latitude in what price tier they put you. I work for a heavy construction company so we always us napa and even when I buy stuff for myself I get the discount. %20+/-. Just gotta get in there and talk 'em up. We move around so much I've but stuff from one NAPA or another from Boston to Corpus Cristi to Pensacola and can usually get somewhere near the same discount. You don't have to be their drinkning buddy but sometimes that too can help..lol
