Default Blazer timing question

Hey- I need some help getting my blazer running. I read in the manual that the timing is not adjustable on my 95 Blazer with a vortec engine. In order to properly set the distributor/rotor, turning the motor to tdc and align the mark on the harmonic balancer with the "V" notch on the timing chain cover. I have no problem finding the mark on the balancer, but i cant seem to find the "V" notch on the timing cover........Any clues to how to find this?

Found it! You have to remove the fan, and water pump pulley to see it. I have pics if anybody needs...

Interesting that you had to take off the fan and pulley.
You couldn't just use a mirror?
I use mirrors all the time for looking around and behind and under components on engines.

Yup, it's down there. Glad you found it. It is a bit difficult to see without a mirror. Mechanics mirrors are cheap and VERY useful.
