Default Can the engine and tranny be pulled together from a 96 Blazer?

I'm looking at a 96 Blazer owned by a friend and I would be pulling the engine and tranny because the engine appears to have a rod knock and the tranny is worn out at 140k miles. I plan to do a rebuild on the engine myself and send out the transmission for a rebuild. My question is, after removing the transfer case and distributor, can the tranny be pulled along with the engine as one assembly? This is the way I'm used to doing it on 3rd gen f-bodies, but I'm new to Blazers and am unsure if there is enough room between the firewall and k-member to do it.

Yeah you just have to have the truck a foot or so off the ground cause you have to tip the trans downard to get it out. Or take the doghouse off it'll come right out then

It can be done, but keep in mind it has to come out on a crazy angle because of the relatively short engine compartment. You should use some kind of plug or something on the trans tailshaft because theres going to be a lot of ATF coming out. On second thought Idk if a plug will work on a 4x4 trans like it will on a 2x4 trans. It won't be much different to pull them together than any other rear wheel drive vehicle once everything is out of the way.
