Catalytic Converter / Transmission
I have a Chevrolet 2001 Blazer LT 4wd 4dr.
There has been a rattling noise in my second catalytic converter. Just recently I have begun to experience various problems with the transmission as well. When I take of from stop, I have to put at least half the pedal down to get going. When driving at a constant speed the rpms pulsate between 1500 and 2000.
If the piece broken in the converter was blocking air flow from the engine, would that cause the transmission problems I am experiencing?

That does not sound like a transmission problem, but rather a plugged up cat. Get under the truck and give the cat a good rap with a mallet or your hand and see if it rattles inside. If so, then it's insides have burned out and broken up and it needs replacement.
Just thought I would post an update...
I fixed the exhaust, put a whole new system in it. Still was experiencing the same problems with the transmission. With the help of a friend, I dropped the pan, and found the filter floating in the pan. Threw a new filter in it, filled it up with new fluid and now it runs great!
Thank You Riddle for your help!
