The 960 should be what you need. Did you use a breaker bar on the tensioner to compress it appropriately?

a breaker bar? lol i barely had enough room the rachet i was usin..ethier way a belt shouldnt be that tight, is shouldnt have to pry it on, it should jus slip on. i aint no mechanic by no means but thats wut makes sense. ya kno?

Unless something is different with your truck, a 960 belt should work if properly routed and properly setting down on each pulley. A new belt will be tighter than the old belt you took off.

And I had no problem using my 1/2" breaker bar with a 1/2" to 3/8" reducer to loosen the belt on my old 2000 Bravada (same as your Blazer in this department).

the belt only would go to the middle of the alternator pulley for some reason, i was pratically laying on the rachet putting all my weight on it and the tensioner would not move any farther.. This belt is approx 1" bigger. i can tug on it and its not movin. the size of it is 13/16" x 97-5/8". not sure what the measure ments of the 0960 is.. but thats the 0970. Is it really to big or might one of the bearings in somthing be going out? usualy only squeals when i accelerate

Well i just got done replacing the tensioner, it was bad, now i got the 960 on without problem. No more squealing....lol..ty for ur help Swart
