A little more information is required... What was the specific code? What are you driving?

On a quick browse through the DTC listing for your year, I cannot locate a code that sounds like what you are describing. I know there is one, but I cannot justify searching for it when you can just get it with a scan tool and someone that actually knows how to use it.

Can you tell me how to get the light to go off? I am going to change the thermostat tommorow evening and see if that is what the problem is. On the way home today i am going to stop be Advance auto and let them check the code and see if they get the same thing as auto zone did.

If you correct the problem, the light should go away on its own. If you really want to reset it yourself, just disconnect the battery while you are working on the engine. Safe working practice is to do this anyway.
