Okay, so I just bought a chevy 305 short block and a 700R4 from a friend of mine for 200. Now then, I have no idea about what I'm really doing as far as parts. All I have is the block, pistons, crank, con rods, and barrings.

Now then, I need to rebuild this engine for my S10 that it's going in so I'm not going to build it to be a powerhouse, but just a good motor. I want it to have that good V8 sound when idleing and be reliable. I don't want to spend big bucks though at the same time on heads, valves, valve covers, manifold and carburator, and whatever else I need.

So the big question is how should I build it up and what parts would you recommend that I buy?
