Default Clutch break anyone?

Hey!

This one is pretty simple: Does anyone out there know a simple way to have a switch in the cabin to enable or disable the torque converter clutch. I want to be able to disable it, but I need it to work for just daily driving for the added fuel economy. Thanks!

Regards,

Thomas

The problem that you will run into is that the TCC solenoid is controlled by a pulse width modulated signal. You may be able to ground out the solenoid, but I am sure that the PCM will not like it when you disrupt things. Whatever you do, you will have to not just ground out the solenoid power wire. You will need to cut into the wire and run a two position switch that will just disconnect the lead in and ground the lead out to the solenoid.

Oh, I just googled "Torque converter clutch 98 Blazer" and your post here https://blazerforum.com/forum/diagnostic-trouble-codes-dtcs-49/p0740-explained-28391/ came up about all of the ugly things the computer will do. Had no idea search terms so tangentially related would bring that up sorry for the wasted thread space! Thanks for the awesome writeup!
