Default Clutch fan removal

On my 2000 blazer with the 4.3 V6, I need to remove the clutch fan assembly, but I can't figure out how. It says the large nut is threaded onto the water pump shaft, but I can't figure out how to stop the water pump from turning while I turn the large nut. I know the answer will be simple, but I am stumped.

There is a special tool for that but, I just used a ratchet tie down to keep it from slipping and a big wrench. It unscrews in normal ccw direction. I think I had to apply a little heat to loosen the grip. Pic is not very good but it will get the point across.

Sometimes you can take a punch & hit the nut in a CCW direction & loosen it. Not always but sometimes. It takes a quick sharp hit.

I just used a big adjustable wrench and tapped it with my 4 lb sledge. Hitting the wrench with the hammer acts like an impact. I was able to loosen everything without it spinning.
