Default Couple of hiccups

Couple of hiccups with my 1998 Blazer, first one is why it some times feels like it’s going to cut out when accelerating from idle, fine while actually driving and doesn’t do it all the time but now and again when pulling out of a junction or setting off from lights you accelerate and it almost cuts out, today it actually cut out but restarted instantly and drove fine, eml on when I bought it so plugged it in today and fault code P0102 (mass air flow A circuit low) I’m assuming this is the main reason for it ? I’m going to pull it all off tomorrow and clean everything but just wanted to find out if anybody else has had this problem and what did it turn out to be?

Second is auto box related, when selecting D from cold it jumps forward a bit harsh, once warm it feels ok, box also feels a tad lazy and changes a bit late, I’m new to autos always had a manual so got lots to learn but have been told to buy a filter and change fluids, hopefully this will make things better but again has anybody else had a similar problem and what was the problem, sorry for waffling any help much appreciated

Well with a code, theres clearly something wrong with the MAF. Stumble off idle is also stumble with sudden load and can be too lean or weak/ intermittemt spark.

Lurching a bit is common. My 95 S10 leaves hard and its a factory GM reman 4L60. High idle aggrivates it. Yes it's not a problem with manuals bc of clutching.

I’m going to try and clean the MAF this weekend to see if it makes much difference, if not I’ll find a replacement and see if that sorts it, the lurching isn’t a massive concern but you reckon a filter change will help ? Also anybody know the which is the right one for a 1998 blazer and where’s best to order from thanks again

I think the filter is due at 48,000 miles if I remember the factory manual. My trans doesnt have that many and the fluid is clean. I wouldnt think a clogged filter would do that. If its over 50 K Id do at least a filter change. A proper trans service drains all the fluid from the cooler and torque converter.

Any time a sensor or electronic device is on the blink, always disconnect and reconnect the electrical connector(s) for the unit just in case a connector is faulty. If its an ECM I'd disconnect the battery first. Had that happen on the O2 sensor and unfortunately the sensor was ruined when the fuel went rich.
