NEW DELOPMENT!

You did it Master Jedi. She's running on her own.

I must have been tired last and the cold and it was dark. I had #3 and #5 plug wires reversed and #2 and #4 reversed as well

So she's been running now for 5 minutes. And she's idling at 600. Its not bad but I have a p0101, p0172 and p0175. I tried to get a video but it wont upload. Says wrong format. Mp4?

When I rev her up it sounds like it wants to stall when it comes back down. Its a little off but not bad at all.

Fuel pressure is good

Misfire in cylinder 5, p0305. Which is likely the rough idle probably didnt get the boot on tight. I have bad arthritis in my thumb.

Ill shut her down. Shes been running steady now for minute. No overheating. Just has a strong fuel odor from running rich.

And the security light stays on. Never seen that before.

Thank you so much Les sir. I could not have gotten to this glorious point without you.

Videos you have to put them on YouTube and then put a link in the post.

Ok time to get out Torque Pro. Probably there is a default gauge for MAF. Tell me what it reads at whatever idle speed it is.

If no MAF gauge is present, then add one per instructions in link I previously gave in post #69

5.2 g/s at 600 rpm

The p0102 is gone just the 172 and 175 and now its a 300 instead of 305

That is a normal MAF idle reading.

Clear all the codes.

Ok now add the custom PID for cam sensor retard in Torque (per sticky at top of second gen forum) and take a reading with rpm above 1200.

Cam sensor retard is an indication of sync between distributor position and the camshaft. If off, it indicates the rotor is not in precise correct position when the spark comes through. (Ignition timing is not adjustable and is determined by the crank sensor and the PCM independently of the distributor.)

Just a fyi right now. Since you changed crank sensors, the misfire detection may or may not be working correctly due to a need for a crank sensor relearn. But again, this WILL NOT affect the way it runs. So just ignore any P030x codes or flashing SES light at this point. Instead you will need to just feel the misfire like in the olden days.

Security light should not be on. Did you change the ignition switch or PCM or BCM?

Ok i have added it but its not really doing anything. Which dial should I use.
I added it with raw data and it shows timing advance at around 17?
Ok i got it 1.6

1.6 on CMP retard is fine. Does it stay there when revving above 1500 and then letting off? I would use a digital gauge. You might get a degree or so of movement, but it should be quite steady.

Again, this has absolutely nothing to do with timing advance or ignition timing and you have to manually enter the equation and rest of the PID stuff before you can begin to make a gauge to read CMP Retard.

What you should have done to make the custom PID before making the gauge - please confirm:
------------------------------------------------
Follow these steps (From StormBlazerJon) in order to add the custom CMP Offset PID in TorquePro for the 4.3L Blazer V6:

1. Settings
2.
Manage Extra PIDs/Sensors
3. Hamburger Button at Top
4. Add Custom PID
5. OBD2 Mode: "221301"
6. Long Name: "Cam Retard Offset"
7. Short Name: "CMP Offset"
8. Minimum Value: "-100"
9. Maximum Value: "100"
10. Scale Factor: x1
11. Unit Type: "Degrees"
12. Equation: " ((signed(A)*256+b)*0.024) "
13. OBD Header: "6C10F1"
14. Does not override any PID

After you've added the PID you can add it to Realtime Information or graph CMP Retard data. Specification is 0 +/- 2 degrees.
