Dash lights not working, Tranny in Limp mode
2000 Chevy Blazer with a 4.3 V6 engine. I bought it and had to replace some harnesses on the transmission because they were fried, making sure to take my time and wire everything up, solder, heat shrink, tape, loom, and tape again. I keep getting this intermittent problem, however, where I'll get in the car, and no dash electronics work, and the car goes in to "limp in/home" mode. And while driving, I may do something like it a bump and all of a sudden the dash electronics work and the car goes into proper gear rotation. And other times, everything goes perfectly. When I got under the column, I noticed that there are some wires that have been cut into and soldered to other wires (haven't discovered where they go yet, but I believe they may have went to a remote start). What could be causing this issue? I've heard everything from a dirty ground to an ignition switch. I was also told I can't just replace the entire column because it and the computer need to recognize eachother? I can't confirm this though. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Unfortunately my Trans Am died and I gotta fix this car in 2 days or less. Any help is appreciated!
