Default Did I time my engine right?

Ok so I have been working on a 95 blazer for awhile now and came to the conclusion that a sensor in the distributor was bad (EDI timing) I replaced the sensor but I didn't drop in the distributor right the first time due to a mistake I made. I had to reset the engine to TDC and I used the 1st cylinder but it still won't start. When I was checking for compression I could feel air on my finger but I couldn't tell if it was going in to the engine or out from the spark plug 1 hole. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ok so after some research I got the timing correct but it won't start. It gets close and backfires. It will turn over for a sec but then it cuts out. Any ideas
