I have the same issue, driving down highway just died restarted within 1 second on its own then died again and will not restart. Towed it home no fire at plugs. Have change crank sensor, coil, pick up coil in dist. rotor button, distr. cap, (previous items new) brain from a salvage yard. No help. Oh I was previously having issues with starting cold start only had to crank a couple of times. Once warm would fire right up. I cleaned the EGR Valve the day before this happened and that fixed the cold start issue. There was still a dead miss and a hesitation at take off (sometimes). Anyone have any ideas please. Thanks

Emzyt, You may have created more problems by replacing the crankshaft positon sensor and the PCM. When the crankshaft position sensor or timing cover are moved, removed, replaced, or disturbed in any way, the crankshaft position sensor relearn MUST be performed. If/when the PCM is replaced, it MUST be flashed, (reprogrammed) to your VIN, AND the crankshaft position sensor relearn MUST be performed. The camshaft position sensor, (in the distributor) does not affect ignition and can not cause a no-start condition, (If you unplug it, the engine will still start & run).
What DTC's did you retrieve, and what order were they retrieved in? As mentioned, check fuel pressure and leakdown. The symptoms you're describing are classic for low fuel pressure.

here is the update the brand new coil pick up (inside the distributor) was bad from the start. Finally checked this part with an OHM meter and returned it and exchanged for another one and voila MY TRUCK IS UP AND RUNNING. Life is Good. Thank you for all of your assistance.

Emzyt, Don't hold your breath. The camshaft position sensor is used for detecting and identifying cylinder misfire only, it does not, and can not, affect engine performance. You still need to check, (& adjust if necessary), camshaft retard so the data from the sensor can be used accurately by the PCM.
The replacement PCM is using crankshaft position sensor data from the last relearn that was done to the PCM, (which was in the donor vehicle). Crankshaft position sensor data is used for ignition timing, injector timing, injector pulse width, fuel mixture, etc etc etc. If the data is incorrect, the engine will not run properly. The relearn must be done because the crank sensor and PCM were replaced. Reinstalling the original PCM will require the relearn because the crank sensor was replaced.
